January 26, 2020 will mark the public premiere of the documentary film “An Impossible Project” as part of the Rotterdam Film Festival.
It’s been well over a year since director Jens Meurer and protagonist Florian “Doc” Kaps, most notable for his work to save Polaroid film from extinction, first visited my colleages and I in the Analog Lab in Menlo Park to be part of this film.
At the end of 2018 we found ourselves together again in Menlo Park, and shortly thereafter in Vienna to capture additional footage which would ultimately comprise the final sequences needed to complete the film. This also included an incredible once-in-a-lifetime gathering that brought together many of the world’s most important Analog Superheroes at Sudbahnhotel in Semmering outside Vienna.
The following April, together once again, we publicly screened the first footage from the film to a packed room during Offset in Dublin.
For Jens, Doc, and the entire crew involved, this has been a six year journey to finish the film. It marks an important moment, and comes at a time when the world needs to hear its message. Personally, I can’t wait to see the finished film for the first time in all its analog glory. Especially as the film is going to be screened in using the same medium as it was captured: 35mm.
Additional screenings to be announced.
